About Home & Workshop Journal

Independent reviews, practical how-tos and buying information for homeowners, DIYers and workshop enthusiasts.

Our Mission

Home & Workshop Journal exists to provide useful, understandable information before you spend money on tools, equipment and products for your home, workshop and outdoor spaces.

We focus on what matters in real-world use: how products work, where they fit best, what to look for, and the tradeoffs worth understanding before you buy.

Hands-On Projects

Many Home & Workshop Journal articles document projects we actually build and improve around the home and workshop. When an article is based on one of our projects, we use our own project photos, measurements, materials, methods and observations so readers can see how the work was approached in the real world.

We try to show the useful details that are easy to miss in a generic how-to: how a project was laid out, why certain materials were chosen, what changed during the build, and what we would want to know before doing the same work again.

How We Research Buying Guides

Our buying guides and comparisons combine manufacturer specifications, current product information, warranty details and practical considerations for homeowners and DIY users. We do not claim hands-on use of a product unless we have actually used it.

When a page contains an affiliate relationship, that relationship is disclosed. Affiliate relationships do not change the goal of the article: helping readers understand the differences that matter before they buy.
